You hear it all the time, people get excited about working out and getting healthy, they get motivated, they start hitting the gym, and then at some point they start to lose that motivation. In the end, they are right back where they started, unhealthy, unhappy, and looking for an answer. It isn't their fault, working out is hard. It is hard to find the motivation to keep pushing your body to its limit. It is hard to wake up every morning with sore and achy muscles.
If this sounds like you, don't worry, you are about to discover the secret that will make you love working out.
How to Find Workouts That You Love
What is something physical that you love to do? This can be anything from hiking to taking a walk around your neighborhood. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it is a physical activity that you like to do.
Sit down and make up a list of these things. Once you have created your list, it is time to start designing a workout routine. Don't worry though, unlike the routines that you have used in the past, this will be a routine that you will actually love to do.
For example, let's say that your list had only three things on it: "walking, dancing, and roller skating".
How can you incorporate those three things into your everyday life? You can start by walking every day during your lunch break. Then a few days a week you can walk again in the evening. On the nights when you are not walking, you can take a dance class or strap on your skates and go skating.
So your weekly workout schedule might look something like this:
Monday – walking at lunch and again in the evening
Tuesday – walking at lunch and a dance class in the evening
Wednesday – walking at lunch and again in the evening
Thursday – walking at lunch and skating during the evening
Friday – walking at lunch and again in the evening
If these are the three exercises that you enjoy doing, you would have five days of working out without even feeling like you are working out!
Just make sure that the exercises that you choose are things that you love and you will be well on your way to a healthier you. As time goes by and you start to see changes in your mood and energy levels, you can add more things to your workout routine.
But What About Your Diet?
Eating for health is a lot like working out for health. It all comes back to finding something that you like and making that a part of your everyday routine. For instance, if I liked a certain vegetable salad then I would make sure that I had that salad for one meal every day. Right now you should sit down and make a list of the healthy foods that you like, especially fruits and vegetables. Once you have your list down, then make sure that you plan the majority of the meals around those foods.
Just like with your workouts, once you start eating the healthy foods that you love regularly, you can start to focus on adding even more healthy foods into your daily eating schedule.
Remember, the easiest way to change your diet and exercise routine is to find something that is fun for you. Once you learn how to make diet and exercise a fun experience, you will find yourself changing faster than you ever thought possible.
